My decision to join the Cyber Innovation Hub programme stemmed from a longstanding aspiration to establish my own company. The programme gives you a range of valuable tools and methods to build a successful start-up giving you more of a chance of succeeding. Prior to the programme I had very limited cyber knowledge but within just 2 weeks I was having conversations with experts in the cyber industry and could actually understand them! The programme is great – from interacting with cyber industry and academic experts to soaking up wisdom from inspiring founders, and not to mention the priceless advice from people who have been there and done it! I couldn’t recommend it more to aspiring entrepreneurs.

The Venture Building Programme

The Cyber Innovation Hub Venture Building Programme offers successful challenge responders the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive 12-month incubation program. Run by the reputable Alacrity Foundation in Newport, this program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and guidance to create a viable business with a market-ready cybersecurity solution.
Through strategic partnerships and expert mentorship, teams are guided through crucial stages of development, including ideation, product development, testing, marketing, and revenue generation. The hands-on approach ensures that participants gain practical knowledge and experience, setting the foundation for a successful entrepreneurial journey.

We support the ideas people with cyber domain expertise, and entrepreneurs with commercial know-how, to work together and take the spark of a concept to a fully-fledged commercial venture within 12 months, that will grow and scale to solve local cyber problems, but also trade across the world.
By match-making people with innovative ideas on how to solve cyber challenges, with teams on the entrepreneurship programme at the Alacrity Foundation, there is sufficient balance from a tech, cyber, commercial and business skillset to help create a viable company.

As part of the innovation programme, participants will receive a monthly stipend of £1,500 to assist with living and program-related costs. This financial support allows team members to fully immerse themselves in the entrepreneurial journey without the burden of immediate financial constraints.
Additionally, joining the programme opens doors to valuable networking opportunities within Cardiff University and the wider tech ecosystem through TramShed Tech. Participants gain access to research expertise, incubator experiences, and physical space at TramShed Tech and the Alacrity Foundation, fostering a collaborative environment for innovation and growth.

Throughout the duration of the programme, teams benefit from invaluable support from industry partners. This ensures that market viability remains at the forefront of the development process, increasing the likelihood of successful business outcomes.
The Cyber Innovation Hub’s ongoing efforts to design and implement cybersecurity testbeds in the innovative Sbarc|Spark building present additional opportunities for real-world testing and validation of cybersecurity solutions. By leveraging these resources and expertise, participants gain a competitive advantage in the cybersecurity landscape, setting them up for success in the market.
