A New Challenge for Higher Education
Universities have long been the backbone of the UK’s skills pipeline, supplying the talent that powers businesses, fuels innovation and keeps the economy competitive. But in the age of generative AI, one of the sector’s most fundamental assumptions is being tested: can a degree still be trusted as a reliable signal of capability?
The rise of tools like ChatGPT has transformed how students learn and work. It has also led to a surge in academic misconduct. A Guardian investigation found nearly 7,000 confirmed cases of AI-related cheating in 2023–24, up from 1,600 the previous year. And with 92% of students saying they use AI tools, universities face an urgent question: how do they ensure qualifications still reflect real learning?
The Solution: Authentic Assessment, Delivered at Scale
Integrevise was created through the Cyber Innovation Hub Venture Building Programme, delivered with Cardiff University and the Alacrity Foundation, to tackle that challenge head-on. The startup’s mission is simple but ambitious: help universities verify genuine learning in the AI era, at scale and with confidence.
Founded by Ebenezer Ogoe, Kelvin Atologun and Kyle Poyer, Integrevise set out to rethink assessment from the ground up. Its platform automates oral assessments, long considered one of the most reliable ways to demonstrate real understanding. Oral exams are extremely difficult to fake and test skills like reasoning, communication, and problem-solving, that matter directly in the workplace. Until now, their scalability has been the limiting factor. Integrevise changes that.
By automating the process, the platform makes oral assessment practical across large cohorts. But it doesn’t stop there. Each assessment generates actionable insights for educators, identifying where students are struggling and providing real-time data to improve teaching and outcomes.
Built on Trust and Verification
The link to cyber runs deeper than it might seem. Just as the resilience of critical systems depends on trust in their defences, the credibility of higher education depends on trust in its assessments. That principle, trust through verification, is embedded in Integrevise’s design, from how assessments are delivered to the compliance and security underpinning the platform’s data systems.
And that trust extends beyond academia. For employers, it means greater confidence that graduates’ skills match their qualifications. For students, it means their achievements hold value in a rapidly changing job market. And for universities, it protects the reputation of their courses, degrees, and institutions.
Momentum That Matters
Thanks to the support of the Venture Building Programme, including structured mentoring, entrepreneurship training, and a stipend that allowed the founders to focus fully on development, Integrevise has moved quickly from concept to pilot stage.
Early trials with UK universities are showing strong results. Institutions report reduced staff workload, enhanced academic integrity, and new data-driven insights into student performance. Most importantly, the platform is giving employers renewed confidence that degrees remain a meaningful measure of capability.
Momentum is also building internationally. Integrevise is now running a pilot with a US university, demonstrating the platform’s global potential and highlighting how institutions worldwide are searching for scalable, trustworthy solutions to the challenge of AI-era assessment.
Building What the Future Needs
Integrevise is one of a growing number of ventures born from the Cyber Innovation Hub Venture Building Programme that solve real-world challenges with measurable impact. By starting with a clearly defined problem, building a diverse team around it, and supporting them with mentorship and infrastructure, the programme helps founders create solutions that deliver lasting value.
