Building Cyber Resilience in Housing

CATEGORY:

  • Incident Response

First Choice Housing Association (FCHA) provides vital housing and support services to vulnerable tenants. With cyber threats on the rise, the organisation wanted to test and strengthen its business continuity and cyber incident response plans through a realistic simulation designed to improve coordination, communication, and crisis leadership.

What we did

Cyber Innovation Hub worked with FCHA to deliver a Business Continuity and Cyber Threat Simulation Day, combining strategic and operational exercises. The day challenged leaders and staff to respond to a series of escalating incidents that mirrored real-world cyber attacks. The immersive, scenario-based format tested crisis communication, incident escalation, and decision-making under pressure — giving participants the opportunity to practise their responses in a safe, controlled environment. The result was a powerful learning experience that turned theory into action and built team-wide confidence in handling digital disruption.

The Result

The simulation gave FCHA actionable insights to refine its continuity plans and improve response coordination. Teams reported greater awareness, clarity of roles, and stronger confidence in responding to cyber threats.

“The scenarios tested our thinking and exposed areas for improvement, which led to tangible outcomes in refining our continuity plans and strengthening our overall resilience.”

Adrian Burke, Chief Executive, First Choice Housing Association

FCHA has since embedded learnings from the day into its wider resilience strategy, reinforcing cybersecurity as a shared organisational priority.

  • Training Courses

Working with Cyber Innovation Hub to deliver our Business Continuity and Cyber Threat Simulation Day was outstanding. Their facilitation encouraged  engagement from the team and created a safe space for honest reflection and learning. The scenarios tested our thinking and exposed areas for improvement, which led to tangible outcomes in refining our continuity plans and strengthening our overall resilience. Highly recommended for any organisations looking to test and or improve their Cyber security responses.
