Respond to a challenge

The future of cyber starts here

The Cyber Innovation Hub will unleash the potential of the Cardiff Capital Region, creating a world-class pipeline of new cyber security products, high-growth businesses, and technically-skilled talent.

We’re on a mission…

To transform Cardiff Capital Region into a leading UK cyber security cluster.

By 2030, we will:

Create more than 25 high-growth companies

Attract more than £20m in private equity investment

Train more than 1,500 people with cyber security skills

How we’ll do it

Challenge-led innovation

We’ll work with government, businesses and the public sector to pull through market-led innovation challenges – then drive rapid development of new, innovative solutions. These will be tightly tailored to industry demand and attractive to private equity investors.

Incubating businesses

We’ll match-make solution creators with entrepreneurs in the Alacrity Foundation’s incubation programme, building a team around the innovator, and providing them with support and services to scale quickly.

We’ll co-locate the team with internationally recognised researchers at Cardiff University. These researchers have experience of generating and validating cyber security solutions on world-class testbeds. Teams will have co-working space at Tramshed Tech – alongside existing cyber and digital SMEs.

Creating a skilled workforce

We’ll work with partners to develop a mix of bitesize hands-on training programmes, catering for existing cyber security professionals, recent graduates, and those looking for a career change. We’ll supply the skills to support not only the Cyber Security cluster, but other priority clusters like FinTech and MedTech, too.

What do we mean by cyber?

The cyber security industry is as diverse as the problems it seeks to solve. Whether you want to keep people safe online, develop clean transport systems, or harness technologies like AI to take friction out of our complicated lives, cyber security innovation is going to be a core part of the solution.

Careers in cyber security are diverse too. The industry is going to need people from all backgrounds, and with a variety of skills and interests. So whatever you’re into, there’s likely to be a job in cyber for you.

Our unique approach

We’re joining up strategic plans with physical infrastructure around cyber security innovation. We believe our blend of hands-on skills development, business incubation and product acceleration across industry and academia is unique within the UK.

By building a critical mass of activity, with successful delivery, we will pull national and international investment into the region, with economic benefits for our partners, funders, and the wider community.
